- By MYLES BUCHANAN

WICKLOW Christmas Market returns to the Abbey Grounds this November and December with plenty of stalls, activities and entertainment to get you in the festive mood.

There is still plenty of time for any interested traders to get involved and sign up for a spot at the market.

The event runs from noon to 6 p.m. on November 23, 24 and 30 and December 1, 7, 8, 14 and 15.

Shoppers will be welcome to come on down and try out some local artisan foods, buy some decorations or find a gift for a loved one or family.

Attractions include beverages, food, artisan market, decorations, craft market, entertainment, Gingerbread workshop, The Ski Lodge Bar, Alpaca experience, funfair, Santa Express and more to be announced.

Santa Claus will also be coming to town on board the Santa Express, which will whisk passengers off on a magical journey, driven by one of Santa’s favourite elves. He’ll take the express to Santa’s wonderland workshops where his most creative elves will show people how to make some magical gifts. Mrs Claus will read one of her favourite Christmas tales too. The grown-ups can enjoy some of Mrs Claus’ festive Wildside punch.

Of course, Santa will be waiting to meet all the boys and girls so they can tell him about their wishes for Christmas. Each family will meet Santa individually and each child will get a special gift from Santa. Tickets for the Santa Express need to be booked in advance. They cost €16 per child and €8 for adults and infants.

Anyone who is interested in being a trader at the Wicklow Christmas Market, can register their interest in having a stall and get their products in front out the whole town.

A PUBLIC meeting will take place for anyone interested in helping out with the organising of this years Wicklow Christmas Together.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 30, at 7 p.m. in the Stage Youth Cafe, which is situated in the Parochial Hall, Wicklow town, across the road from St Patrick’s Church.

Christmas is supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year, but it can be hard if you are facing it alone or away from loved ones in another country.

Wicklow Christmas Together has been organised for anyone in Wicklow town and surrounding areas to come and enjoy a Christmas day dinner and festive cheer in the company of others.

Lauren Keogh, one of the organisers, said: ‘On Christmas day we will be holding an event in the Parochial Hall in Wicklow town which will include a full Christmas dinner, along with music, dancing, a sing-song and a bit of craic. It is a non-religious event and will cater for young and old, singles, couples and small families. Transport to and from the venue is also available.’

This will be the event’s sixth year as it continues to grow from strength to strength. Anyone who can’t make the AGM but would still like to get involved in volunteering can contact Lauren at 087 7665131 or lmbkeogh@gmail.com or send a message to the ‘Wicklow Together’ Facebook page.
