The October junior box league is going well now that the weather has improved, it will run until October 31 and then a new one will be in place for November, any junior aged 8 or over who wishes to enter the November box league (and did not play in October) is asked to email Sinéad with their name and age.

Charles is the author of a trilogy of books which started with ‘The Killing Snows,’ based on the Famine times. Charles will speak about the Famine in Mayo, the migration of the Irish to England, Canada and the USA.

He will focus on documents which were found in his uncle’s home in Kiltimagh which give a real and actual insight into the history of the Irish Famine.

These documents actually inspired Charles to write his first book ‘The Killing Snows.’ Charles is no stranger to Wicklow having attended the De La Salle School in the town during the 1960s.

This is an illustrate­d lecture not to be missed. Admission is free and there will be a donations box available to help offset costs.

Society members and friends are currently researchin­g and writing articles for the 2020 edition of the Wicklow Historical Society Journal which will be on sale next summer. on facebook. 3 p.m.. Donations can now be left into the De La Salle Pastoral Centre or Wicklow Cancer Support Centre.
