‘Making your mind up’ with Bucks Fizz
STARSHINE Promotions, based in Arklow are looking forward to exciting time ahead as they prepare for a number of wonderful and exciting events in the coming weeks. BUCKS FIZZ - OVER TWO DECADES OF SPARKLE! In The Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey, Co. Wexford on Friday 20th December at 8.30pm, doors open at 7.30pm. Also appearing with Bucks Fizz on the night will be Elton John, direct from the West End, UK No. 1 Tribute Act Joel Coombes and up and coming star Bri Ellie Finn. Bucks Fizz were one of the biggest bands of the early 1980’s. Eurovision Song Contest Winners Bobby G, Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan, and Jay Aston’s sparkling performance of ‘Making Your Mind Up’ earned them an instant place in music folklore, and an international number 1 hit!
Following the footsteps of Abba, Bucks Fizz redefined the publics expectations of a boy/ girl band - with exciting dance routines and regular visual image changes. Think Steps crossed with Liberty X, twenty years before their time.
Bucks Fizz features Bobby G and is known to millions of people around the world as the original member of Bucks Fizz.
Bobby sang the lead vocal on the majority of Bucks Fizz songs, including ‘One of Those Nights’, ‘The Land of Make Believe’, and ‘Talking in Your Sleep’. Not only has he composed and produced many songs for Bucks Fizz, he has also been involved in a number of productions for other successful artistes. The anchor man for what has been described as ‘the best Bucks Fizz ever’
Other members of the group are:
Heidi Helen Manton, who became Mrs. Bobby G in 2000 where they tied the knot in Florida, and she is also the group’s manager.
Tammy Leslie Choat Tammy is a member of ‘The Spotlights’, a London-based function band who perform at many prestigious venues including the Dorchester, Hilton Park Lane, Manor of Groves and The Prince
Regent Hotel to name a few. She also spends a considerable amount of her time in the studio as a session singer.
Paul Stuart Yates
During the last 20 years Paul’s love of music has seen him work the professional DJ circuit throughout the UK and Europe, however, his passion has always been to sing and act. Paul has gained many drama nominations and awards for his theatrical work which include amongst others- Gaston (Disney’s Beauty & The Beast); Captain Tempest (Return to the Forbidden Planet); Frederic (Pirates of Penzance), and the lead role of Don (Summer Holiday).
Elton John - The UK No 1. Tribute Act - Joel Coombes
Joel Coombes has amassed significant experience of performing live, at times appearing in front of up to 20,000 people, Joel is the ideal tribute act to kick-start any function. Couple this with authentic costumes and the well-known classics such as ‘Yellow Brick Road’, ‘Candle in the Wind’, and “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” and you’ ll find any venue fit to burst with excitement. He sounds like him, looks like him and leaves audiences on a high after every show.
Bri- Elle Finn
Bri Elle Finn is an up and coming star and will make a special guest appearance as part of this wonderful night of music. She brings a wealth of talent, where she plays guitar and ukulele, both of which are self-taught. Undoubtedly there is a very bright future ahead for such a talented young lady. Bri Elle has also recorded an EP in aid of Mary Nolan Hickey’s “Lap of the Map” Challenge in 2018 for Arklow RNLI and is a seasoned performer.
This will be a night to remember with one hit after another from top international acts travelling over to Ireland.
