Deadly dozen compete in keenly contested blitz

WICKLOW Cumann na mBunscol recently held a blitz in Bray Emmets for fifth and sixth class boys.

There were 12 teams participating across nine primary schools from North Wicklow. Each team got four games on the day with all games keenly contested for non-competitive fixtures.

The skills performed on the day were well appreciated by all the teachers who had the teams well prepared. Thanks very much to the referees, teachers and to Bray Emmets for having all the pitches set up. The participating schools included Kilcoole Primary School, Newtownmountkennedy, St Cronan’s, Gaelscoil na Clocha Liath, St Pats Wicklow Town, Educate Together Greystones, Nuns Cross and Scoil Chualann.

Allianz third and fourth class Boys Football Participation Day

- The Allianz Boys’ Participation Day Blitz for third and fourth class takes place this Thursday, October 24, at 11.45am in Bray

Emmets GAA Club. This is a non-competitive blitz with the emphasis on developing skills and encouraging the boys to play football.

Where possible, schools are encouraged to send more than one team. It is a nine-a-side blitz, no goalkeepers, points only scoring. If your school has any trained young whistlers, they are asked to attend and put their skills into practice.

Please let Gary Mac Giolla Choda, Oifigeach Peil na mBuachaillí know how many young whistlers you will be sending on the day. Due to the popularity of this event, teachers may be asked to referee games.

It’s That Time of Year Again

- Allianz Tráth na gCeist: It is that time of year again as we prepare for the annual Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Tráth na gCeist.

It will take place in Lynham’s Hotel in Laragh on November 7 at 7.30pm.

Any school that is interested in attending should contact Billy Cuddihy by email (cuddihybilly@ gmail.com) by Friday, October 25. Each school is asked to bring some small GAA related prizes for the raffle on the night. We look forward to seeing you there.

Football Young Whistlers Course

Indoor Hurling/Camogie third and fourth class blitz

- November 14, 21 and 28 in Shoreline, Greystones. Sixth Class Young

Whistlers can used. These are not mixed teams.

Your school will be contacted regarding which date you will be attending. Schools will attend on one of these days. Please let us know if you cannot attend on one of these days.
