Avonmore see off St Anthony’s to continue perfect start to campaign

Avonmore continued their perfect start to their Andy McEvoy Premier Division campaign as they overcame St Anthony’s 4-2 on Sunday.

Mark Cullen, Adam Tuke, Eugene Dunne and Ryan Cahill all got on the scoresheet for the Rathdrum outfit, with Dan Lacey and Darren Collopy replying.

St Peter’s got back to winning ways as they saw off Wicklow Rovers 3-1 at Whitegates. Jamie Kelly helped himself to a brace for the winners, with Chad Ryan adding to their tally and Luca Ramperaud netting for Rovers.

Rathnew continued their unbeaten start to the campaign, although they did have to settle for their second draw out of the three games they’ve played to date, after a 1-1 stalemate with Arklow Celtic.

The Village took the lead midway through the first-half when Gary Byrne fired in, but Celtic earned a share of the spoils when Conor

Smith hit the back of the net with 25 minutes remaining.

Ashford Rovers got up and running with their first victory, overcoming Arklow Town 4-1 at Travers Insurances Park.

Ryan Beale, Colm Doyle, Paddy Murphy and Robbie Eyre all scored for the winners, with Cian McLoughlin replying.

Elsewhere, Glencormac edged out Carnew in a seven-goal thriller (see focus match).

Table-toppers Arklow United had to be content with a share of the spoils on Sunday as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Derry Rovers in Clonegal. Jason Cowman bagged both goals for the hosts, with Mark Nolan and Clive Keenan scoring for the league leaders.

Second-placed Coolboy Rangers ran out comfortabl­e 4-0 winners against St Anthony’s B, with Jash Cush netting a double and Lorcan Rossiter and Cian Moules adding a goal apiece.

Aughim Rangers made it three wins from three as they edged out Shamrock Celtic by the odd goal in seven. Ronan Lynch, Pádraig Byrne, Gearoid Murphy and Shane O’Keeffe scored for the winners, while Colin Cassidy, Johnny Carton and Stephen McGuinness replied for Celtic.

Mark Sunderland (two) and Cian Kelly got the goals for Arklow Town as they enjoyed a 3-1 derby success against Arklow Celtic, with Mark Wolohan replying.

Ryan Werder (penalty) and Ryan Cahill got the goals for Avonmore in their 2-1 win over Ballywaltr­im, with Justin Melia scoring for the Bray side.

Andy Doyle was the main man for Conary United, bagging a hat-trick to help his side to a 5-2 win over Greystones United.

Michael Murphy added a double for the winners, with Mukoro Gberevbie and Joseph Gerard scoring for Greystones.
