MIDTERM BREAK

Next week for midterm the following regular classes will break for that week: Pilates (Mon and Thurs, adult and Children’s Classes), yoga with Louise (Thurs, Floor and Chair Yoga Classes).

PILATES CLASSES

Pilates strengthen­s core muscles, improves muscle control, flexibilit­y, strength and tone, as well as alignment and breathing. Zara Elkinson has trained and qualified through the STOTT Pilates Method of Movement. This method combines modern theories of exercise science with spinal rehabilita­tion, which gives a safe and effective exercise that sees results and is accessible to all. CURVY WHIRLIES FITNESS CLASS

Sunshine Fitness is proud to announce that our ‘Curvy Whirlies’ plus-sized ladies class is coming to the Brockagh Centre in Laragh this November 6 This low-impact and fun exercise class will focus on strength building using a mixture of gentle movement, weights and stretching. MINDFULNES­S/ CRAFT WORKSHOP

Make your own Christmas cards, gift tags, gift bags and handmade presents while learning to switch off and become more mindful. This popular workshop takes place in the Brockagh Resource Centre on Saturday,

FOOTFALLS WALKING FESTIVAL

Footfalls Walking Festival will be based in the Brockagh Resource Centre from Friday, October 25, to Monday, October 28, with many of the walks taking us through Wicklow Mountains National Park. All walks are led by experience­d walking leaders who will enhance your day with informatio­n on local history flora and fauna.

The weekend offers a selection of walking choices such as Lugnaquill­a (925 m), a night walk, moderate to easy walks throughout the weekend. Please note: Walks may be changed on the day depending on weather conditions or the fitness level of the group at the leader’s discretion. VIOLIN LESSONS

The violin teacher is at the Brockagh Resource Centre on Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to midday. All types of music for beginnes to advanced levels. ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The group meets every Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. in the Brockagh Centre and for lunch once a month at various local venues (new members welcome). The next monthly lunch will be in Lynhams on November 12.

Our Christmas Tea Dance is on Sunday, November 17, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., music is by the Wicklow Man. We are looking for prizes for our raffle so if anyone has any unwanted gifts that they would like to donate it would be greatly appreciate­d. annual Christmas shopping trip, Wednesday, November 20. also the Christmas party is on Tuesday, December 10, in Co. Meath. There are a limited number of places left, call Denise at 0404 45600 asap for further info. Our Christmas lunch will be in the Wicklow Heather on December 17. We are currently organising our breakaway for next year, further details to follow.

WE LOVE ART

Art and crafts classes for children of primary school age take place on Monday afternoons. Classes cover a wide range of art and craft techniques and processes, giving kids an outlet for creative self-expression while learning new skills. Classes are small and places must be reserved in advance, the first class is free for new students. Almha Roche is a profession­al artist and an experience­d and qualified art teacher. ADULT ART CLASSES

Mon morning drawing and painting classes are suitable for beginners as well as more experience­d painters. Students choose the medium (s) with which they wish to work, and develop their interests and personal style with Almha’s advice and guidance. If you are thinking of getting back into your art, or trying something new to explore your creative side, now is a good time. ELEVATION DANCE SCHOOL

Our Modern Dance classes focus on Jazz, Lyrical, Acro Dance, Ballet ISTD and Commercial styles as well as ISTD syllabus work giving a well-rounded understand­ing of the Modern Theatre style. Classes are held in the Brockagh Resource Centre every Mon, Wed and Sat for all age groups and levels. Senior Advanced Contempora­ry Rep and technical training incorporat­ing classical, release, contractio­n and floor work. Saturdays: 10: 00 p.m. to 1 p.m. and Senior Dance Team.

Roundwood Folk Group are on the look-out for a guitarist/ musician to help them in the New Year with Saturday night Mass. Very flexible not every Saturday and not a big commitment but very enjoyable. Please contact Helena at 086 3000194 if you would like to do it.

Badminton has resumed on a Tuesday morning from 9.30 a.m.

PARISH SALE OF WORK

Roundwood and Moneystown Parish Sale of work will take place on Sunday, December 1, from midday till 4 p.m. All our usual helpers, and of course new volunteers are asked to come along to run this event. There will be a short meeting after the 6 p.m. Mass this Saturday the 26th at the back of the church.

A date for your diary. Roundwood Golf Society will hold their annual table quiz night in aid of Roundwood senior citizens Christmas party in Kavanaghs Vartry House on Friday, October 25, at 8.30 p.m. Your support and donations for spot and raffle prizes would be gratefully appreciate­d.

SUNSHINE FITNESS

Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action meeting at 7 p.m. this Wednesday at the Coach House car park. All welcome to walk at your own pace for approximat­ely one hour.

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Nancy O’Brien and Phil Power were the overall winners for North/South on Monday, October 14, second Maria Magee and Judy Skates and third Ger Lenihan and Rowena Brady. T here were joint winners in the East/West section, John Loscher and Catherine McGillycud­dy and Paddy O’Brien and Margaret Bolger shared the top two places while Clare Sally and Claire O’Connor took third place.

The Roundwood and District Community Council AGM will take place on October 30 at 8 p.m. in Roundwood Parish Hall. All members of the community are welcome to attend.

HALLOWEEN CANDLELIGH­T WALK

A Halloween Candleligh­t Walk will take place on Sunday, October 27, at 6 p.m. starting from Roundwood AFC grounds on the Bray Road. Suitable for the young and not so young. Fancy dress optional with some seasonal surprises along the way. Cost €10 per family. This is a fundraiser for the Roundwood Christmas Lights. ROUNDWOOD DANCE

Our weekly set dancing sessions continue in Kavanagh’s Lounge All are always welcome – whether you have ever or never danced before Session starts from 8.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. and cost is still only €5 for a goodnight of exercise.

CANCER SUPPORT

The Roundwood Cancer Support centre is now up and running and is open in the Parish Centre on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. and they are currently looking for volunteers if you could spare some time in your week it would be greatly appreciate­d.
