Bray comes alive Football teams from 16 schools compete in blitz

-

ALLIANZ CUMANN NA MBUNSCOL Chill Mhantáin’s (North East) last on-field action before the midterm break took place in Bray Emmets on Thursday last, October 24.

This time it was the turn of third and fourth class boys. Proving to be a very popular event every year this year saw 16 schools (26 teams) take part in the participation blitz.

Playing in near perfect conditions the 26 teams gave their all in what turned out to be a very entertaining day’s football. Playing games where point scoring only was allowed, the teams worked well together to fashion scores.

Allianz Cumann na mBunscol would like to thank our Young Whistler referees (sixth class children from various schools) Dillon, Ella, Daniel, Lucy, Tom, Matthew, Ronan, Josh and Éanna who excelled in their knowledge of the rules.

As ever Allianz Cumann na mBunscol are indebted to the retired teachers, Dave Barry and Micheál Ó Murchú, who consistently make themselves available to set out the pitches for each blitz.

The participating schools were: St. Peter’s Bray (1), St.Fergal’s Bray (2), Nun’s Cross Ashford (2), Ravenswell (1), Scoil Chualann (1), St. Cronan’s Bray (2), Kilmacanogue (2), Newtownmountkennedy (1), Kilcoole (1), Scoil na Coroine Mhuire Ashford (2), St. Patrick’s Wicklow (1), Moneystown NS (1), Gaelscoil na Clocha Liath (3), St. Laurence’s Greystones (4), St. Brigid’s Greystones (1) and Wicklow Educate Together (1).
