Rathnew battle back to draw with Glens Ryan wins it for Saints

Glencormac United dropped their first points of the Andy McEvoy Premier Division campaign as Rathnew twice fought back from a goal down to earn a 2-2 at Shamrock Park on Sunday.

Simon Doyle and Josh O’Callaghan scored for the visitors, while Mark ‘Yeboah’ Doyle responded with a fantastic header after great work from Gary Byrne and Paul Merrigan also netted for the Village with a fine solo effort.

Wicklow Rovers earned their first win of the season with a good 5-2 away success over Arklow Town. Alan Power gave Rovers the lead but Town hit back to make it 1-1.

Rovers went into overdrive and added three goals before the break to make it 4-1. They went on to add a fifth before the home side bagged a consolatio­n. The Rovers goals came from Dean Noble (two) and Jamie Power, Alan Power and James Lang.

Richie Neary and Aaron Kelly hit the back of the net for the Arklow outfit.

Ashford Rovers got another away win on the board as they overcame Arklow Celtic 4-1 at Celtic Park.

Colm Doyle fired the visitors in front with an exquisite lob and although Arklow equalised through David Kenny, Rovers took control thereafter.

Finn Brooks edged them back in front with a half-volley, before John Connors gave them a two-goal cushion from the penalty spot and substitute Evan Dunne sealed the deal late on with an assured finish.

Leinster Junior Cup

St Peter’s booked their place in the third round of the Leinster Junior Cup when edging out Kilcock Celtic 2-1 on Sunday.

Chad Ryan grabbed the winner in extra-time, after Jamie Kelly’s opener had been cancelled out by the hosts.

Meanwhile, in the first round

Darren Collopy was the match winner for St Anthony’s as they earned a 3-2 win on the road against Clontarf FC.

Collopy netted a double for the Kilcoole outfit, while Larry Kenna also got in on the act.

Avonmore FC progressed without having to kick a ball as they were handed a walkover from Moyne Rangers’ second string.
