Public meeting on redesign of M11/N11

-

MOTORISTS are being invited to have their say on the forthcoming M11 upgrade design.

The National Roads Office has developed a series of options to upgrade the N11/M11 route and are seeking the input of the public in developing and selecting a preferred route option.

Wicklow County Council is holding a public consultation event in the Glenview on Tuesday, November 12, from 12 midday until 8 p.m.

Staff will be on hand to answer people’s questions and listen to their views.

The area in question is from the N11 merge with the M50 north of Bray, to the Coynes Cross junction in the south.

‘As a Wicklow resident I know first-hand the congestion motorists face every morning at rush hour,’ said Minister Simon Harris. ‘With the economy at near full employment the delays experienced by motorists have got longer and longer to the detriment of people’s family and personal time.’

The developing route options will subsequently be available to view at n11m11.ie or in Simon Harris’s office.

The project is being managed by Kildare National Roads Office with Arup appointed as lead consultant to advance the project through the planning and design process.

This is the second public consultation meeting. The first was held in December 2018, also in the Glenview.

As a ‘blank canvas’ display, the purpose of this first consultation was to inform the public of the proposed study area for the scheme and the processes that will be followed through each phase of the planning for the scheme. The consultation consisted of a number of display boards and constraints mapping along with a scheme brochure and comment sheet. The project team were on hand to answer the public’s questions on the process and also invited input from those interested or affected by the scheme. Approximately 200 people signed the attendance register on the day and overall support for an improved transport solution in the corridor was very strong.
