Tesco Wicklow staff member Justin Doran wins Manager of the Year 2019

JUSTIN Doran of Wicklow town, was one of the big winners at the 2019 Tesco Ireland Values Awards, taking home the coveted trophy for Manager of the Year.

This is the eighth year of the Tesco Ireland Values Awards, which took place at a special ceremony in the Radisson Blu, St. Helens, Co. Dublin.

Voted for by Tesco colleagues countrywid­e, the awards recognise excellence amongst the retailer’s 13,000 strong workforce across eleven different categories including Colleague of the Year, Store Manager of the Year and Team of the Year, among others. Customers were also invited to nominate someone they felt went that extra mile in the categories Service Superstar and Home Delivery Driver of the Year.

Nominated by his fellow colleagues, this award recognises the passion that Justin has for his role as manager in the Tesco Wicklow store. Justin is seen as an inspiratio­n in his store and has a huge impact on his fellow colleagues. Some of the words used to describe him have been supportive, friendly and caring. His colleagues say Justin always has a kind word for everyone and he is known by name by every customer in the town.

TV personalit­y Darren Kennedy was on hand to MC the ceremony and to present the awards to the winners for their notable contributi­ons to communitie­s across Ireland, and over 250 Tesco employees were in attendance to celebrate their success.

Geraldine Casey, Director at Tesco Ireland said: ‘We are always amazed at the great lengths our colleagues from across the country go to, to serve the shoppers of Ireland a little better every day. These awards give us an opportunit­y to celebrate these exceptiona­l contributi­ons, as recognised by the colleagues that they work with each day.’
