PLOUGHING SOCIETY

Roundwood Ploughing Society is looking for informatio­n, paper clippings and photograph­s that anyone may have relating to the Roundwood Ploughing Society down through the years the society need them as soon as possible for a presentati­on for the Historical Society early in the New Year. FOLK GROUP

Roundwood Folk Group are on the look-out for a guitarist/ musician to help them in the New Year with Saturday night Mass. Very flexible not every Saturday and not a big commitment but very enjoyable. Please contact Helena at 086 3000194 if you would like to do it.

BADMINTON

Badminton continues on a Tuesday morning from 9.30 a.m.

PARISH SALE OF WORK

Roundwood and Moneystown Christmas Sale of work will take place in the GAA complex on Sunday, December 1, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. A great day out for all the family with something for everyone. All good quality donations for the various stalls can be left with Maureen in the parish office between 9 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. (Mon-Thurs) before November 28 In particular we are looking for bottles for the bottle stall and home produce for the cake stall. Come along on the day to visit SANTA and pick up some fantastic festive Christmas gifts.

ROUNDWOOD DANCE

There will be a dance in Roundwood Parish Centre on Friday, December 20, with music by the Wicklow Man. All are welcome.

SUNSHINE FITNESS

Sunshine Fitness will be starting ‘Baby and Me’, ‘Golden Oldies’ (for aged 65+) and ‘Curvy Whirlies ‘ (for plus size women) fitness classes in the parish hall from September 17 Please contact Caitríona at 087 6035780 for more informatio­n.

WALKING GROUP

Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action meeting at 7 p.m. this Wednesday at the Coach House car park. All welcome to walk at your own pace for approximat­ely one hour.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

We are delighted to report that the Roundwood and District Community Council has secured grant funding from Co Wicklow Partnershi­p for Christmas Lights in Roundwood village.

Our thanks to the local property owners who have kindly agreed to allow the erection of the lights and access to electricit­y for same.

Unfortunat­ely the grant aid only covers 75% of the project costs. Any donations most welcome and can be placed in the donations box in Keith Grant Butchers. Many thanks.

WHIST RESULTS

The results of the whist is as follows: Top Score: Marie Magee, Top Lady: Patricia Byrne, Second Lady: Maura McHugh, Top Gent: Margaret Kennedy, Second Gent: Jimmy Molloy, First Half: Anne Pierce, Second Half: Richie Cullen, Lowest Score: Molly Byrne and Longest Sitting: Martin Byrne. The raffle prizes were won by: Anne Pierce, Maura McHugh, Richie Cullen, Martin Byrne and Patricia Byrne the next whist will be this Wednesday, December 4, in the Parish Centre.

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

North/South winners on Monday, July 18, were Rowena Brady and Paddy O’Brien, Brid Clancy and Phil Power were second, Teresa Leahy and Marion Davis were third and fourth place went to Nancy O’Brien and Catherine Halligan. East/West winners were Monica Brady and Gertie Fee, second John Loscher and Declan O’Brien, third Clare Sally and Kay Plunkett and fourth Séamus Kennedy and Pauric Gleeson.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

Monica Brady and June Digby played their cards right on Friday, November 22, to take first place for North/South, second Catherine McGillycud­dy and Nancy O’Brien and third Kay Plunkett and Kitty Heslin. East/West victors were Bridie Nolan and Maura Gaskin, second Rowena Brady and Maria Magee and third Phil Kenna and Liz Belton.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last week. The numbers drawn were 5, 24, 26 and 30. There four match-three winners, Amanda Walsh, Darina Dawson, Mary Doyle and Maebh Egan. Next week’s jackpot will be €17,200.

MARKET

Roundwood Market continues with the usual produce and new hours. Now open every Sunday from midday till 4 p.m. New members welcome. Contact Jacinta at 086 0722851.

SET DANCING

Our weekly set dancing sessions continue in Kavanagh’s Lounge on Thursday nights. All are always welcome – whether you have ever or never danced before Session starts at 8.30 till 10.30 and cost is still only €5 for a goodnight of exercise.

ROUNDWOOD CANCER SUPPORT

The Roundwood Cancer Support centre is now up and running and is open in the Parish Centre on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. and they are currently looking for volunteers if you could spare some time in your week it would be greatly appreciate­d.
