‘Negative’ people lashed
WICKLOW GAA’S games manager Hugh Kenny attacked the ‘negative people’ who ‘lie in the long grass’ waiting for opportunities to be critical or destroy someone’s work or reputation in his report on social media activities in 2019.
Praising various people and groups, Hugh Kenny said that ‘Wicklow GAA has made major improvements in public relations in the last 12 months.
‘More and more games have been highlighted and this has led to more interaction on Facebook, Twitter and websites.
‘Promoting our games and activities has now brought a new dimension and interaction among Wicklow GAA followers. PRO
Bridget Kenny and her team must be congratulated and complimented,’ he said.
However, in a year that saw both Hugh Kenny and Eddie Leonard suffer disgraceful character assassinations on social media following the Minor ‘B’ football championship draw which led to an independent review by Leinster Council GAA, the Wicklow official had some choice words for the ‘negative’ people who he claims don’t know enough about the subjects they are commenting on.
‘There are always negative people out there who want to destroy the good work that is being done.
‘They only lie in the long grass waiting for an opportunity to be critical and destroy someone’s reputation or work because they have shown begrudgery or jealously in their comments.
‘People don’t know enough about something yet form an opinion without finding out the truth – this is known as an information vacuum.
‘They never comment on the good things that are happening, it’s always the negatives.
‘When you can’t control what’s happening, challenge yourself to control the way you resond to what is happening. That’s where the real power is.
‘It’s a very difficult job to run the public relations side of things and it doesn’t help or provide any assistance to those who try their best to share the latest information with our followers,’ concluded Hugh Kenny.
