STREETS OF WICKLOW RUN
The Inbhear Dee Athletics Club Streets of Wicklow 5k road race at 11 a.m. Online registration is open now at register.primoevents.com and costs €15 for adults, €8 for juveniles or €50 for families. On the day entry will cost €20 for adults, €10 for juveniles and €65 for families. Numbers can be collected from East Glendalough School from 9.45 a.m. on the day. There will also be a one-mile kids race at 10.30 a.m. Entry is €3 and can be paid on the day.
GOAL MILE
After a day of festive fun and feasting, the good people of Askanagap will be lacing up their trainers to run or walk the GOAL Mile at 11 a.m.
ANNUAL CHARITY SWIM The tenth annual charity swim in aid of St Vincent’s Foundation will take place at noon at South Beach, Arklow. Organised by Eamonn and Mary Burke, the event has raised over €55,000 to date. For sponsorship cards, call Mary on 087 92590504. ANNUAL CHARITY SWIM
This year’s St Stephen’s Day swim at the new pier in Wicklow town will be in aid of Wicklow RNLI. Please come along and support this local initiative, blow off the cobwebs, and help raise money for a great cause this St. Stephen’s Day. Fancy Dress is optional and all are welcome. It gets underway at noon.
ANNUAL RUN
The annual 10km and 5km run will take place in Castletown. The run starts from the Golden Anchor, with a walk at 1 p.m. and the run starting at 2 p.m. There are prizes for all categories and the routes are suitable for all the family. Runners will be challenged by the 10km route. The separate 5km coastal loop is also suitable for children and is buggy friendly. Post race refreshments will also be served. ANNUAL RUGBY MATCH
Ireland’s longest-running charity rugby match between Rathdrum v The Houndogs will return to The Ivy leaf grounds in Rathdrum at 1.30 p.m. The match is an eagerly awaited annual fixture in the rugby calendar. The Houndogs are an invitational team made up from local Co Wicklow and ex Rathdrum players. Collections are made on the day for local charities and post match celebrations generally continue long into the night.
