TINAHELY ladies football team celebrated their amazing five-in-a-row of county Senior titles at a superb event in Murphy’s Hotel recently but last weekend it was the turn of their future stars to take stock of a stunning season that saw them claim success at ‘A’ and ‘B’ at under-16 level and record their own five-in-a-row with championship secured at under-12 (2015, under-14 (2016 and 2017), and under-16 (2018 and 2019).

As an added bonus, most of this panel of players were the backbone of the 2019 Minor ‘A’ championship winning team.

Special guest on the night, Denis Finn, Vice-Principal of Coláiste Bhríde Carnew and school football coach to many of the panel, presented the girls with their medals.

In his speech on the night, he said it was an honour to be there as he works closely with these girls.

He praised the club for the level of skill, talent and commitment the girls bring to the school team.

He wished them well in the future.

Denis Finn also presented the under-14 Féile winning team with their trophies on the night.

The team management of Angela Tallon, Michael Byrne, Declan O’Brien and Eugene O’Neill first recognised the special talent of this group of girls six years ago.

This talent along with the commitment they bring to football will ensure they will remain a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

For these girls it seems as if it is definitely a case of ‘onwards and upwards’.
