BOYS BASKETBALL
Our first and second year boys basketball teams had their first games of the season recently against Coláiste Raithin. The first year game was a very close affair, with both teams level at the end of normal time. Unfortunately Colaiste Raithin got a couple of decisive scores in overtime to claim victory. Will Fitzpatrick and William Fitzpatrick were our top performers on the day.
The second year game was a very scrappy affair with both teams struggling to get scores throughout. Coláiste Raithin again claimed victory by a couple of baskets. Jake Nally was our best performer on the day.
CAREERS
Cadets from the Irish Defence forces gave a very interesting and informative presentation to senior students.
TY NEWS
This week has seen the TY production of ‘Grease’ take a huge step in the right direction as the structural elements of the stage have finally been completed. This means that the cast can finally start to use the space and put the finishing touches to their dances. A big thankyou must go to Kerry Smith for all her work in choreographing the show.
Also this week the students got confirmation that they are going to see Blood Brothers in the Board Gais Theatre in February. The theatre night is always a highlight of the year and this promises to be a particularly enjoyable show.
Finally in an exciting development for our school improvement group Mrs Murawski has successfully arranged for our group of litter pickers to partner with the sixth class students of Wicklow Educate Together in cleaning up the local area around their school. This initiative had been very successful so far this year with over 25 sacks of rubbish being collected from our local community since September. By partnering with the local primary schools it is hoped that the simple message of ‘Pick it up’ will become embedded at a young age, helping us all to enjoy our beautiful town and raising much needed environmental awareness.
