Wicklow Garda Youth Award winners

-

JUDGING has been completed for this year’s Wicklow Garda Youth Awards.

A panel of judges selected worthy winners from nominations sent in for young people across the county, between the ages of 13 and 21 .

Winners will receive their awards at the Parkview Hotel in Newtownmountkennedy on Friday, February 21.

Young people will be recognised for making their communities, or society in general, a better place in which to live.

Awards will be given to individuals, and groups of two or more whose combined efforts contributed positively to their communities or others in general. Special Achievement awards will be considered for young people who have defied the odds or overcome difficulties during their lives.

There is also a Community Safety Award, which will be presented to an individual that has made their community a safer place to live through a crime prevention or safety initiative/innovation.

Nominations were made by family members, teachers, and youth workers, all of whom felt that a young person, or group of young people, deserved acknowledgement for their efforts and selfless actions.

The nominee with the highest score in each of the four categories will be sent forward to represent County Wicklow in The National Garda Youth Awards Competition which will be held in April.

Judges faced difficult decisions with every nominee before them worthy of recognition.

The ceremony will include light refreshments and live music.
