20 teams take part in third and final blitz in Charleslan­d

at Charleslan­d, Greystones

THE third and final day of the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol (North East) third and fourth classes indoor GAA blitzes took place on Thursday last in Shoreline Leisure, Greystones.

Another extremely successful day saw 13 boys’ teams and seven girls’ teams participat­e on the day. The morning session saw St. Laurence’s Greystones take on St. Laurence O’Toole’s NS Roundwood, both schools providing two boys and girls teams.

The mid-morning session saw Ravenswell NS Bray, St. Cronan’s Bray and St. Brigid’s Greystones partake in an all-boys five-team blitz.

There were some great displays of quick play in this session with Ravenswell coming in for particular mention.

The final session of the day saw Greystones Educate Together, St. Coen’s Rathnew and Newtownmou­ntkennedy Primary compete in both the boys’ and girls’ blitz. There were further displays of great skills and teamwork in this session.

Well done to all the schools who took part over the three days, 18 schools, providing 48 teams in all, comhgairde­aches uilig.

A special word of thanks goes to the young whistlers who officiated at these non-competitiv­e blitzes. We hope they gained valuable experience on the field of play and we look forward to seeing them again, mile buíochas.

Indoor Hurling and Camogie Blitzes – second and third class: The indoor hurling and camogie blitzes are scheduled for February in Shoreline, Greystones. This is a seven-a-side blitz for second and third class.

Please let Ciara or Éamonn (Oifigeach Iománíocht­a agus Camógaíoch­t) know on which day you would prefer to attend. Please take note: it is hurling and camogie and we would encourage schools to bring boys’ and girls’ teams if possible.

Thursday, February 6 - Hurling and camogie.

Thursday 13th - Hurling and camogie.

On the hurling and camogie day, hurling will be on one court and camogie will be played on the other court.

Indoor hurls will be required to play, please let us know if you will need to borrow hurls on the day.

Helmets will be required by all players. Ground hurling only so each team will have a goalkeeper.

If you have a young whistler, they can attend as a referee.

Children in fifth class who completed their training before Christmas are welcome to come along to referee as well. Boys’ Football Allianz Coughlan Cup Day 1

Eleven-a-side and no age limit at 11.45 a.m.

Your school will be contacted regarding which venue you will be attending.

Points only, goalkeeper. Three points for a point, one point for a goal.

Girls’ Wicklow Times Shield Day 1, March 5, at 11.45 a.m. in Bray – 9-a-side. Teams will be graded on this day.

Goalkeeper, points worth three, goals worth one point.

Boys’ Football Allianz Coughlan

Cup Day 2, March 12, at 11.45am in Bray Emmets and Kilcoole GAA Grounds. Venue to be confirmed.

Eleven-a-side at 11.45 a.m. This is a competitiv­e competitio­n. Full rules apply.

Girls’ Wicklow Times Shield Day 2, March 19, at 11.45 a.m. in Bray – 9-a-side. Teams will be in divisions from day one and this is a competitiv­e competitio­n. Full rules.
