TAI CHI/QI GONG CLASSES

Tai Chi and Qi Gong Classes continue in Annacurra hall on Wednesday mornings from 11 a.m. to midday. Cost €80 for a block of eight classes. Beginners welcome. Learn gentle flowing healing movements that help to relieve stress, improve flexibilit­y and mobility.

GAA LOTTO

Numbers drawn on February 10 were 4, 8, 22 and 24. No jackpot winner. Match-three winners: Jack Burgess; John Byrne, Fatima and Mary Foley, Avoca. Next jackpot €2.850. Draw is held in the Saltee on Monday night.

45 CARD DRIVE

The next 45 card drive will be on Friday, February 21, in the Saltee, starting at 9 p.m.

WHIST

There will be a whist drive in Annacurra Community Hall next Saturday night February 22, starting at 9 p.m.

PILGRIMAGE

The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place from May 9 to May 14. Costs from €749. Forms for Pilgrims and assisted Pilgrims available in the sacristy or from Fr Sheridan.

WALKATHON

There are only four weeks left till our inaugural 24-hour Walkathon event. It takes place from 6 p.m. on Friday, March 13, and ends at 6 p.m. on Saturday the 14th. Many teams have signed up for the event and they would appreciate your sponsorshi­p. This is our main fundraisin­g event for the year and your support and generosity would be greatly appreciate­d. There are many sponsorshi­p cards in the locality. Thank you all in advance.

Qi Gong (Specific) Tuesday evenings 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. – which incorporat­es the beautiful Crane Method and the Taoist Yoga System. Learn gentle flowing healing movements that help to relieve stress, improve flexibilit­y and mobility. This is a powerfully healing practice which helps to relieve stress from the nervous system and enhance the health of the whole body and develops your being. Venue: Aughrim Sports and Leisure Centre. YOGA CLASSES

Yoga classes in Aughrim with Yvonne. New six-week blocks of yoga classes are starting the week of February 25 Mondays 9.30 a.m. to 10.45 a.m. and Wednesdays from 8 p.m. to 9.15 p.m.

TIDY TOWNS EGM

The members of the Aughrim Tidy Towns will hold an EGM on Thursday, February 20, at 8 p.m. in the Pavilion, Rednagh Road, Aughrim. The agenda of the meeting is to elect a new board and committee. All members are requested to attend.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The pottery course starts on Monday, February 24, from 10 a.m. to midday. This has been supported by a Grant from KWET.B Materials cost €30 per person. This is a once off payment and must be paid at the first class.

Yoga has finished due to lack of numbers, instead we are going to be having Aqua Aerobics in the Coral Leisure Centre on Wednesday mornings. Cost per session – €4.50.

Internatio­nal Women’s Day is being celebrated on Sunday, March 8. To recognise this event we hope to go out to lunch. Anyone, who might be interest can let us know.

LOTTO

The numbers 7, 18, 26 and 28 were drawn in this week’s Aughrim Sports club lotto February 10 the jackpot was not won and there was no match winner. The jackpot is €4,950. The weekly lotto supports Aughrim camogie club, Aughrim GAA club, Aughrim Rangers Soccer club and Aughrim sports complex. People, who support the weekly lotto are lending support to the local sports clubs who are very much part of the community.

TOWN AND COUNTRY MARKET

Aughrim Town and country market are back in action after the Christmas break. The market is open from 10 two in the Pavilion, Rednagh Road. Enjoy the buzz in the Pavilion Cafe as you catch up with friends over coffee and treats. Delicious brunches and light lunches are also on offer. Fresh local produce available, including organic fruit and vegetables, locally produced meat, eggs, preserves and fresh home baked bread and cakes. INDOOR HURLING

Indoor hurling continues in the hall on Monday nights. Sessions are broken down as follows: Junior and senior infants 6.30 to 7.10 p.m., First second and third classes 7.10 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fourth fifth and sixth classes 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. All boys and girls interested are welcome come along and join in the fun. No doubt they will be our future hurling and camogie stars.

SCHOOL FUNDRAISER

Scoil Naomh Brid, Knockanann­a, will be holding their next fundraiser a Bake Sale in St John’s Hall, Hacketstow­n on Sunday, March 1, after 11 a.m. Mass. Parents and children will be asked to donate cakes and treats and your support for this event is again greatly appreciate­d.

CAMOGIE

Camogie club registrati­on day was cancelled last Saturday because of the bad weather. A new date will be announced soon. Congratula­tions to the girls from the club involved with Coláiste Bhríde, Carnew, junior camogie team who recently won the Leinster final. We wish them the best of luck in the all-Ireland semi-final. The club is currently holding a clothes collection. Contact committee members or 087 6244386/087 6267521 to drop off bags.

SOCIAL DANCING

The next Social Dance in Knockanann­a Hall will take place on February 28 with music by Teddy and Cathal Barry. Dancing 9.30 p.m. to midnight. Admission €10.

The Irish Claddagh will provide music in O’Keeffe’s pub on Sunday, February 23, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The following are the next two Tinahely Walking Club Sunday walks. February 23: Art’s Lough. Level B+, 14km, four hours. Meet Tinahely 9.45 a.m. or Glenmalure Lodge 10.30 a.m. March 1: Croghan. Level B, 12km, three hours. Meet Tinahely 10 a.m. or the Gap 10.15 a.m.
