Local events to mark Adult Learners Festival

LEARNING for Life’ is the theme for this year’s AONTAS Adult Learners’ Festival.

The week-long celebratio­n of adult learning takes place from March 2 to 6 and will see a number of events take place across the Garden County, including workshops on how to upskill effectivel­y and how to promote personal wellbeing in everyday life.

Carnew Training and Developmen­t Centre will hold an event titled ‘Balancing your Wheel of Life while Upskilling’ on March 3 from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Anyone interested in upskilling and making themselves more employable can attend the free event, where participan­ts will learn practical ways to steer their own wheel.

CPS Gym in Bray has a specialise­d Olympic weightlift­ing workshop every Wednesday evening. As part of the Adult Learners Festival, it is opening its doors to anyone interested in trying something new from 5.45 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. on March 4. This class will focus on one of the following movements: Clean and Jerk or the Snatch. Booking is required and can be done by contacting Steward

The KWETB Wicklow Further Education and Training Centre at The Murrough in Wicklow town will host a well-being through community education event on March 5 from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Guests can drop in and get some useful tips on improving their wellbeing. There will be two separate workshops, with the first one taking place at 2.30 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. and the second one taking place at 3.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. Topics covered will include diet and how food can affect your mood, sleep, energy and self-care.

Visitors can also speak to the Community Education team to learn more about the service and the courses on offer. Prior booking is not required and there is no cost. The contact is Fiona Tuite, 086 0499149.
