Vocal group set to visit library

-

AN a capella quartet from the UK will perform at Blessington Library as part of the ‘Way with Word’s’ programme devised by Wicklow County Council.

‘Mouthful’ are a four-piece a cappella vocal group who make innovative, exciting and original music using only the human voice. Bex Mather, Dave Camlin, Katherine Zeserson and Sharon Durant create and perform a diverse range of vocal material, with an exciting and accessible repertoire that ranges from Georgian to gospel, folk to funk, and includes jazz, country and outdoor Scandinavian ‘yoiking’.

‘Mouthful’ make all of their own vocal arrangements and they also perform as part of eight-piece vocal collective, Human Music, with Helen Chadwick, Jon Baker, Sian Croose and Sianed Jones.

They have worked in educational and community contexts throughout the UK and internationally, having experience of bringing joyful participatory singing experiences in schools, prisons, hospital and public settings.

They will be featuring in west Wicklow schools, public workshops and big sings, in hospitals, libraries and other community venues throughout the county on their visits.

The public is welcome to join them for their first visit this Saturday, February 29, at a ‘Big Sing’ event for adults from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Blessington Library. They will perform again in Blessington at 8 p.m. that night. Attendees of the workshop can have singing experience, be members of existing choirs or can just want to try singing for an afternoon.

The group will return to Blessington Library on March 2 from 10 a.m. for a fun, imaginative and dynamic interactive children’s workshop where everyone can sing and move.

Tickets are available from Blessington Library by emailing blessingtonlib@wicklowcoco.ie or from Eventbrite.

Mouthful’s appearance is part of Wicklow County Council’s Way with Words programme for readers and writers. The line-up includes appearances by Irish authors and poets, including Martin Dyar, Colm Keegan, Christine Dwyer Hickey, Pat McCabe, Dermott Bolger, Catherine Fulvio, Karl Henry, Sarah Moore Fitzgerald and many more.
