ST PATRICK’S

-

This was our busiest weekend of action so far this year as we had a few teams playing in the last couple of days in our own club and our county squads.

Our Wicklow Senior footballers travelled to Rathkeale where they faced Division 4 leaders Limerick. The Munster men proved too strong as they came out on top on a score-line of 5-10 to 1-14. Hard luck to all the players especially our clubmen Dean Healy, Patrick O’Keane and Niall Donnelly.

The county hurlers lost to a strong Kerry team 1-20 to 1-12. Both George and Andy O’Brien were involved in that team.

The county ladies had a massive victory over Sligo 5-18 to 0-7 against Sligo in Division 3. We had five starters in that game: Megan Dunne, Lucy Dunne, Niamh McGettigan, Sinead McGettigan and Clodagh Fox. Rioghna McGettigan was on the bench.

Our Senior footballers began their Division 1 League campaign with a great 1-10 to 0-9 points victory over old rivals Baltinglass. It was a good start for our new captain Tommy Kelly and his men, hopefully it’s the first win of many from our lads as they look for the third consecutive championship title.

Our Senior hurlers opened their Leinster hurling league with a great victory over Wexford side Davidstown-Courtnacuddy 0-20 to 1-11, with nine different scorers.

The Minor county lads had a match against Dublin during the week. We had three players apart of this panel, Tom Hodgkinson, Ryan Kavanagh and Mark Evans.

Our lotto took place last Monday night, February 17. The numbers were as follows: 5, 8, 13, and 29, with the bonus number being 21. There was no match five winner this week. There was no winner of our match four jackpot which was for €5,400. Kay Carolan won the match three draw of €250. The next draw will take place on February 24 at the clubhouse.

Thanks to the weekly club lotto sellers who gave up their time to help raise funds for the club. Its greatly appreciated. The Junior ‘A’ football team had a useful workout on Saturday last versus Clonmore in preparation for their opening fixture in Division 2 of the football league on Saturday, March 7, when the face a difficult assignment away to Stratford-Grangecon.

The management team of Jon Hynes, Laurie Cullen and. Donal Wafer will be looking to get off to a positive start.

JUVENILE NEWS

Our under-13 football team travelled to Ballylinan, Laois, on Saturday last for their cross-border league fixture and emerged victorious on a 4-6 to 2-8 scoreline.

Well done to playing panel and mentors. Their next fixture is on Saturday next, February 29, when they encounter C.J Kickhams from Tipperary. Venue T.B.C.

The combination drawn in the Fairgreen Development lotto on Monday, February 17, was 8, 12, 16, and 17. There was no jackpot winner.

Killian Lambert, Coollattin Gardens, was the sole match-three winner and won €100.

The next draw will see the jackpot at €1,100. Tickets costing just €2 are available in all local business outlets and from Development Committee members.

The walkway at the Fairgreen is still seeing plenty of footfall and is of huge benefit to the community.
