ARKLOW U16 GIRLS NEW ROSS U16 GIRLS 37 5

ARKLOW RFC’S under-16 girls continued their winning run in the league with a comprehensive away win over New Ross.

With the weather hampering fixtures, it had been three weeks since the girl’s most recent game.

This was apparent from the kick off with the Arklow girls making several unforced handling errors plus poor decision making when they had the ball in space.

However, cometh the hour, cometh the girl - inspirational captain Jane Neil managed to crash over for try 15 minutes into the game from a ruck five yards out which settled nerves.

From this point the girls began asserting their dominance up front and behind the scrum.

Centre Grainne Flynn was a constant threat. Quick passing from the Arklow backs saw her outpace the New Ross defence and complete a 30-yard dash to the line scoring under the posts.

Emer Cullen was successful with the conversion.

Shortly afterwards Flynn made another trademark break this time unselfishly setting winger Shannan Kinsella away to score her first try for Arklow.

The relentless attacking form the Arklow backs began to tell in the second half.

It was at this point Prudence Isaac began to impose herself on the game seizing on some indecision from the New Ross defence to score her first try of the game.

The Arklow team began to cut to loose as their opponents tired. Strong line breaks from Caoimhe Kelly Nolan up front saw quick ball delivered to Isaac once more to score her second try.

Arklow continued their dominance with Jane Neill refusing to allow the Wexford side settle when in possession.

An excellent lineout from Arklow just outside the homeside’s 22 metre line saw the Arklow team to deliver quick ball to Isaac once more.

The centre once more stole over to complete her hat-trick.

With five minutes remaining the Arklow team showed its ruthless streak and after excellent forward play from Jane Neill and Clodagh Lee, Prudence Isaac broke away once more to score her fourth try of the afternoon leaving a final score of 37-5 and the team’s unbeaten run continue.
