WICKLOW Patchwork Group has presented Lakers with a cheque for €3,200.

‘We are so very grateful for their support,’ said a spokesperson for Lakers.

Emma Hogsett and Charlotte Fahey, on behalf of the patchwork group, handed over the cheque to Matthew Davis and Donal O’Mahoney from Lakers during group’s AGM in Newtownmountkennedy.

The sports and recreational club for people with an intellectual disability was the chosen charity for Wicklow Patchwork Group for 2019. ‘Thank you to everyone who so generously contributed to our charity events throughout 2019,’ said a spokesperson.

The Wicklow Patchwork Group first met in the spring of 2014 and has been meeting every month since. Today, they have over 100 members largely from the Wicklow, South Dublin and Wexford. They meet on the third Saturday of each month, including the summer months, in the Community Centre in Newtownmountkennedy at 10.30 a.m. People of all standards are invited to join, from the interested beginner to those who have years of experience and are more than happy and willing to share their knowledge and wisdom with all.

Meetings include guest speakers and demonstrations as well as regular workshops for members to improve their skills and learn new techniques. There is tea and coffee at meetings and an extensive lending library.

The group’s nominated charity for 2020 is Wicklow Dementia

Support.

Membership of the group is €20 per year. Entry to monthly meetings is €3 for members and €5 for visitors. Visitors are welcome to attend two meetings before joining the group.
