-

WICKLOW RFC have a busy weekend ahead with the J1s and the J2s both in cup action. The Provincial Towns Cup comes to Ashtown Lane on Sunday when the visitors are Roscrea. On Saturday the seconds take on our nearest neighbours Rathdrum in the Seconds Cup.

Wicklow seconds get the ball rolling on Saturday in the big local derby against their nearest neighbours Rathdrum in the first round of the seconds cup.

The Wicklow seconds recently showed what they could do by beating a Gorey side that had beaten them comfortably at the start of the season.

This 22-7 win was an excellent morale boosting performance ahead of the cup and they will look to continue that form against a tough and battled hardened Rathdrum side. Kick-off on Saturday isat3pm

On Sunday, Wicklow’s first XV take on a Roscrea side that is coming to Wicklow with real momentum behind them.

Roscrea have dominated Leinster League Division 3 and are unbeaten all season in the league with 14 wins from 14.

They have scored 377 points and conceded only ten tries all season. They are sure to travel to Wicklow in large numbers and with real confidence. They have a strong set piece and an exciting set of backs in a squad that has a good mix of youth and experience. . One thing is certain, Wicklow wont be underestimating the men from the midlands.

Wicklow for their part will be anxious to build on the tough away win to Cill Dara in the first round of the cup two weeks ago. The score on that occasion was 5-9 with all the points coming from the boot of Niall Earls.

Kick off is at 3pm and Wicklow are asking all of their supporters to come out in force to get behind the boys on both of these important days. There will be live music in the club that evening and all are welcome.
