Ballymanus 3-7 Donard-The Glen 0-9

The Billies bounced back from their opening day defeat to An Tochar with a fine win at home to Donard-The Glen last Saturday afternoon.

Two goals from Seamus Coogan and one from Roan Lynch helped the men from Askinagap get the better of the men from the Glen.

Barndarrig 0-6 An Tochar 0-11

An Tochar secured top spot in Division 2 with an 0-11 to 0-6 victory over Barndarrig in Barndarrig last Saturday afternoon.

This latest victory, their second on the trot, follows their hardfought win in dire weather conditions in Askinagao against the Billies the previous weekend.

A low-scoring affair, the Roundwood men took a 0-2 to 0-1 lead into the break but enjoyed the better of the second-half action and built a decent lead which Barndarrig were unable to close.

Stratford-Grangecon 1-13 Shillelagh-Coolboy 1-12

Stratford-Grangecon got their Division 2 adventure up and running with a very narrow victory over a battling Shillelagh-Coolboy in Stratford last Saturday.

Looking comfortable at the break with a 1-8 to 0-3 lead over Jon Hynes’ side albeit with the strong wind at their backs, it was the south Wicklow team who rallied strongly in the second half and they had closed to within four with 10 to go at 1-10 to 0-9.

However, Stratford-Grangecon captain Mark Murphy, who would finish with 1-9 for the hour, stretched the home side’s lead with two more scores before club stalwart Kieran Byrne finished their scoring ahead of the visitor’s firing home a late penalty.

Laragh 2-19 Annacurra 3-9

Laragh was the setting for a frantic battle between these two sides last weekend that saw three penalties in the first half, two for Annacurra and one for the home side, and all converted.

Annacurra took a 3-5 to 1-8 lead into the half-time break but were down a man to a black card.

Laragh started the second half like a train, hitting the visitors with 1-5 between the eyes.

Annacurra, now back to the full 15, couldn’t really inflict any massive damage on the home side who went on to add three more scores before Annacurra added two scores from frees.

Laragh finished up worthy winners by 2-19 to 3-9 and this sets them up nicely for a battle against Shillelagh-Coolboy on March 21.

Ashford 2-10 Baltiinglass 1-11

Ashford recorded a significant win over Baltinglass at the weekend and showed major signs of a return to form with Brian Coen playing a pivotal role after a return from injury, scoring three points.

It wasn’t plain sailing for the Ashford side as they were trailing by three with eight minutes to go having been level with their opponents at the break.

However, a goal from Graham Mooney and ponits from Cormac Doyle and Rian Dwyer helped them claim a very positive result.
