TRACTOR RUN

A vintage/classic tractor and car run will take place on Sunday, March 15, in aid of the South Wicklow Hospice Homecare. The run starts at Walshs, Ballkingle­n (Eircode Y14CK38) and finishes at Doyle’s Lounge, Ballinglen. Registrati­on from midday. Entry to the run is by donation. ANNACURRA DEVELOPMEN­T COMMITTEE.

Thank you to everyone who came to our AGM last week. Our new committee will now look after the village, entering Tidy Towns this year while also maintainin­g our first project the Ciaran Shannon Walk. The committee is; president – Fr JP Sheridan, chairperso­n – Linda Hannay, vice-chairperso­n – Aideen Jordon, secretary – Fainche O’Neill Murphy, Vice-secretary – Veronica O’Flaherty, treasurers – Jude Dalton and Tom Dalton, PRO – Mick Hanney, Safety Rep – Brian Moran, Operations – Darragh Harpur, Bert Kenny and Brian Moran. Thank you to Breda O’Neill, who was secretary for four years, best wishes to the new committee and thanks to all those who have promised to help out in the coming months.

GAA CLUB NEWS

The glitz and glam of Hollywood is coming to Annacurra with the running of an Oscars night. There will be a number of films produced and shown on the big screens in October but first here’s where You come in. there will be an informatio­n night held in Annacurra hall Saturday, March 28, at 7.30 p.m. and we’d love to see you there. There will be informatio­n on the event and details on how the event is going to be run. The fundraiser will go towards the developmen­t and upgrade of facilities and grounds of the GAA club with proceeds from the event going to various organisati­ons around the parish. The main event takes place in the Amber Springs Hotel in October 17.

This weekend saw the start of the league for the intermedia­te team. While the first half went well, things went wrong in the second half and we went down 2-19 to 3-08

BRICKX CLUB LEGO/ KRAFTY KIDZ CAMP.

We are delighted to announce we will be running our Easter camp in Annacurra Community hall from Monday, April 6, to Friday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. Cost €60 per child. Age group: three to 12 years. The children can pick art and crafts or Lego camp or mix between the two camps. MORNING FITNESS CLASS

Morning fitness class, pound and stretch with Ais. Four-week block starting Thursday, March 5, for just €30. Class starts at 10 a.m. till 10.45 a.m. in Annacurra Community Hall. We will do a 30min Pound Rockout Workout (drumming inspired), followed by a slow easy 15 min Stretch. Look forward to waking up and moving with you. Any questions contact Ais at 086 0692799.

This is a full body workout that combines cardio, conditioni­ng, and strength training with yoga and pilates movements, while using lightly weighted drumsticks. One of the best things about POUND is that it can be modified to work for a wide range of ages and abilities. You can adapt the movements and intensity to suit you.

We will end the class with a slow gentle 15 minute STRETCH This will give you the opportunit­y to nourish your body and mind.

TAE KWON DO FOR CHILDREN

Doreen Kenny, recently made history, by becoming the first woman in Europe to achieve the rank of Tae Kwon Do master. Doreen continues her classes in Annacurra Community hall on Wednesdays from 4.30 to 5.50. Book now to secure place. Age group: five to 12 years. Cost: €25 per month (monthly fees only)

Taekwon Do is renowned for developing focus, co-ordination, physical strength, self confidence, agility, balance, discipline and respect.

45 card drive will be on Friday night, March 13, in the Saltee, starting at 9 p.m.
