Covid-19 support group set up in Blessington

- By MYLES BUCHANAN

BLESSINGTON Town Team has established the Covid Community Response Group to support the national effort to cope with Covid 19.

A number of interested bodies are supporting this work - Baltinglass Municipal District of Wicklow County Council, McGreal’s Pharmacy Group, An Garda Siochana, Fire Service, First Responders, HSE and local community groups to name a few.

John Horan, Chairperson of Blessington Town Team urged the local community: ‘to work together and help one another get through this as safely as we can.’

Mr Horan added that the Covid Community Response Group would provide local information and updates regarding matters in Blessington.

‘We want to keep people up to date with local goings-on. For instant the playground and skatepark have been closed. I know fresh air is good for kids but groups of them were gathering at the playground without maintaining the social distancing of two metres which has been advised. We are the contact point people can feed back to. If someone wants something published then they can contact us. Crimin’s Family Butchers, for example, have notified everyone that they will be more than happy to deliver if people call in an order. Also, if someone is in isolation and can’t go out then we can put them in touch with people that could make deliveries to their home,’ said Mr Horan.

The Town Team group created a Facebook page to assist in co-ordinating the dissemination of local information of relevance to the Blessington area. The Blessington Covid Community Response Group can be contacted at blessingtontownteam@gmail.com.
