Energy group invests millions in Australia

-

ENNISKERRY-BASED Crowley Carbon is planning to invest €58.7 million into Australia and New Zealand, to combat climate change.

The company, with Cork-born Norman Crowley at the helm, is focused on energy efficiency.

The investment is part of a joint venture with Australian business Climatech and will take place over the next five years.

Crowley Carbon’s Powerscourt based Electrifi car business and live-action Cool Planet Experience will be recreated in Sydney as part of the expansion.

Mr Crowley recently raised €31 million in new funding and is looking at the Middle East, the US, Canada and South America.

In Australia, climate change is a higher priority since the wildfires occurred across the nation.

Crowley Carbon employs 400 people and operates across 26 countries. More than 200 of those jobs are based in Ireland across its Powerscourt headquarters and Kilkenny.

Founded in 2009, Crowley Carbon partners industrial and commercial clients with energy-efficient solutions and renewable energy technologies such as solar panels and biomass. It works with companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Bunge and General Electric.

Its brands include PlanetClarity, which optimises how energy is consumed in the pharmaceutical industry; Crowley Solar, which has solar energy projects across the world; the Cool Planet Experience, which aims to change the public and business perception of climate action; and Electrifi - transforming classic cars into electric vehicles.
