WICKLOW GOLF CLUB

In light of the ongoing CoronaViru­s (COVID-19) situation, the committee of Mmnagement have decided to close the Clubhouse Bar & Restaurant at Wicklow Golf Club from 6pm, Sunday, March 15, until further notice.

The golf course and locker rooms will remain open and we will continue to adhere to the guidelines issued by the Government in order to allow our staff, members and guests to play golf and work in a healthy and safe environmen­t.

Ladies result: 14-hole stableford, Wednesday, March 11 - 1st: Christine Ryan (35) 33 points; 2nd: Bernie O’Donoghue (17) 31 points; 3rd: Liz Cuddihy (26) 29 points.

Men’s results - 14-hole open singles stableford - Thursday, March 12 - Cat 1: (0-10) - 1st: Kevin O’Mahony (8) 29 points (B9).

Cat 2: (11-15) - 1st: Colm Byrne (15) 32 points. Cat 3: (16-20) - 1st: William Snell (16) 27 points. Cat 4: (21+) - 1st: Patrick Sweeney (29) 32 points. Ladies open seniors, 13-hole stableford, March 10 - 1st: Breda Carroll (21) 17 points.

Men’s 18 holes singles, March 15 - Winner: K Ryan (11) 42 points; 2nd: L Connolly (8) 42 points; 3rd: MA O’Neill (13) 39 points; Gross: L Byrne (4) 34 points; 4th: J Gill (18) 39 points.

RATHSALLAG­H GOLF CLUB

Death of former Captain Cathal Higgins: The committee, officers and members of Rathsallag­h Golf Club extend their deepest sympathies to Cathal’s family at this difficult time.

Cathal was captain of our club in 2000. Cathal rest in peace.

Winter League: Our very successful winter league play off was held last weekend and the winning team the Sleeping Beauties captained by David Byrne took the honours in a very close finish with Aidan in Wonderland captained by Aidan Pierce.

Other members of the winning team were, David Carty, Gordon Cronin, Michael Sleator, Brian Sexton, Garrett Crowe and Siobhan McDermott.

In the singles section that man again David Byrne had a very narrow victory over Thomas Davis and Vincent Cronin; just two points separated these players.
