Brass Fox gets permission for a coffee shop and ten guest bedrooms

-

THE Brass Fox in Wicklow town has been granted permission for a total of ten guest bedrooms.

The plans also allow for the provision of a coffee shop.

Novus Consulting Ltd submitted the planning application for the Leitrim Place located property in July of last year, with Wicklow County Council requiring further information which was provided in March of this year.

Extensions, alterations and refurbishments to the existing public house and restaurant are planned for use as a guest house. Proposed works at ground floor will comprise provision of coffee shop, the relocation of main entrance to bar, amendments to toilet and kitchen layouts and provision of new reception, entrance and stair access to guest bedrooms.

Works at first floor include an extension over existing flat roofed structure providing six ensuite guest bedrooms together with conversion of existing of existing first floor apartment to four ensuite guest bedrooms and related ancillary spaces together with site works.

In a cover letter submitted to Wicklow County Counci8l in July 2019, Michael Connolly Architects, on behalf of Novus

Consulting Ltd, said the stand-along coffee shop would have a separate entrance to serve users and visitors to the Murrough and nearby beach, who may not want to use a bar.

It will also serve as a restaurant and private dining facility in the evenings.

A condition placed on the permission by the Local Authority means that the guest bedrooms will be available for short term holiday letting only.

Any guests are only permitted to stay for a maximum duration of four weeks, and the bedrooms shall not be used for permanent accommodation.
