The meals are prepared by the 3 Cooks team which is made up of chefs Hugh Hyland, Trevor Kearns and Liam Tilly. It was then delivered by volunteers, members of the Poulaphouca House team and gardai from
Kilcullen. Last week’s dish was a chicken mushroom tarragon in white wine cream with chive basmati.
Poulaphouca House is hoping it may be possible to re-open its doors in July. The business has been up and running less than a year.
‘We never thought it would be going for so long. We have enough sponsorship to run the service until the end of June. The sponsors help us to keep it going and we have to thank them for their support.
‘It’s a real community initiative. We are delighted to be able to continue to provide the meals,’ Daniel added.
THE West Wicklow Festival may have been postponed until November but chamber music aficionados were still able to enjoy a masterclass by Adam Walker, from the comfort of their own armchair.
The fourth festival was due to take place this month and was set to feature a selection of Beethoven’s most iconic chamber works, alongside seminal works from the 17 th century through to the present day. Among the acts lined-up to perform were Trio Gaspard, Quatuor Arod, Tai Murray and Silke Avenhaus.
The festival has now been postponed until November due to the Covid-19 criss. However, Adam Walker, principal flute of the London Symphony Orchestra, was able to hold his live-streamed Youtube masterclass on Thursday, followed by a questions and answers session.
Adam was appointed principal flute of the London Symphony Orchestra in 2009 at the age of 21 and received the Outstanding Young Artist Award at MIDEM Classique in Cannes. In 2010 he won a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship Award.
