Ashford applicatio­n

PLANS have been submitted to An Bord Pleanála seeking permission to construct 133 residentia­l units at Ballinahin­ch, Ashford.

Planning applicatio­ns for housing developmen­ts of more than 100 residentia­l units or 200 plus student bed spaces can be made directly to An Bord Pleanála as a Strategic Housing Developmen­t rather than having to go through the local authority.

The applicatio­n is on behalf of Ardstone Homes Ltd and seeks permission for 113 units, comprising 117 terraced and semi-detached two storey houses and 16 duplex apartments in two three store blocks. The 117 houses will be broken down into 21 two bed units, 48 three bed units and 48 four bed units. The duplex apartments will comprise of eight two bed and eight three bed apartments.

The main vehicular access to the developmen­t will be provided from the existing roundabout junction at the R764 to the west of the site.

Provision for future pedestrian connection­s to adjoining lands is also proposed at the northern and eastern boundaries. Existing residentia­l boundaries along the western side of the R764, including the boundary of the protected structure Dawn Cottage, and is proposed to be realigned to provide for a footpath into the centre of Ashford town.

Associated upgrades to two pedestrian crossings are also proposed.

Associated infrastruc­ture site and drainage works include foul and surface water drainage, two attenuatio­n tanks, 263 car parking spaces, four bin and cycle stores, one bin store and two ESB substation­s. The proposal includes all other landscapin­g, servicing and associated works above and below ground.
