NIGHT AT THE DRIVE-IN CINEMA
WE have all been missing our trips to the cinema during the Covid-19 lockdown, and families from across county Wicklow made the trip to the Beehive Inn to enjoy this unique event of a classic drive-in cinema that is currently travelling across the country.
It was a treat for all the family to drive in and pull up to a weekend packed full of children’s favourites and classic movies at the Beehive. The event saw a big crowd gather safely at a social distance from the comfort of their cars.
The weekend started with a family favourite, the hilarious ‘Shrek’ for all the children to enjoy on Saturday afternoon, while the classic movie ‘Grease’ allowed the viewers to go back in time and sing along to their favourites during Saturday’s late-night sold-out show.
After five movies in total and as the weekend finished up, time was all out of sync during ‘Back to the Future II’ that saw all present almost forgot where they were as they followed the adventures of Marty McFly and the Doctor in their time machine.
Some viewers brought teddy bears and blankets along to share in the fun, but facilities such as confectionery and toilets were provided at the venue.
Others lounged as they rolled back their front seats and turned up the radio, to hear all the action from the big screen.
Organisers thanked all for coming out and enjoying some time away from home together safely with their community.
The next event took place at Bunclody’s St Mary’s Villas with a change-up of movies.
