Donations still accepted for Sunflower Days

-

MEMBERS of the public are being asked to continue to lend support and make donations toward the 30th Hospice Sunflower Days.

The campaign is the leading national fundraisers in Ireland for hospice and specialist palliative home care services and celebrated its 30th anniversary this year.

Volunteers couldn’t collect on the street due to Covid-19 so a virtual fundraising drive was held instead. While, Together for Hospice, the national hospice movement, have thanked the public for your support and generosity, it has also been noted that this year’s fundraising efforts raised on average 85 per cent less than the sums usually raised each year.

A request has been put to the public asking them to continue to make donations, big or small, which locally will go direct to Wicklow Hospice.

Sinead Tarmey of Wicklow Hospice said: ‘We would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for all their support on our 30th annual Hospice Sunflower Days. Hospice Sunflowers Days is our flagship national on street collection during the year and the cancellation of our on-street collection was a major loss for Wicklow Hospice. We are calling on the public to continue to support us and make a real difference to their local hospice. It is vital that people know that every cent raised locally, stays locally.’

To make a donation you can visit www.togetherforhospice. ie. Alternatively, you can make a donation by texting ‘SUN’ to 50300 to make a donation of €4.
