ST. PATRICK’S

-

It’s been a busy week in the club as we’ve welcomed back our players/ coaches as both adult/juvenile training has resumed on many fronts. The safety of our members is our main priority as we try to prevent the spread of the virus. To support this, we have set up our sanitise stations, located at entry to the pitch. All members sanitise entering pitch and leaving pitch. Thank you to Colin from Wicklow Print Solutions for our providing our sanitising units.

Last Wednesday the long-awaited championship draws took place. Our Junior hurlers will play in a group of six, the five other teams are ARP, Aughrim, Bray Emmets, Éire Óg and Western Gaels. There will be home and away games. The top four qualify for the semi-finals, with the two winners participating in the Junior ‘A’ final and the two losing semi-finalists in the Junior ‘B’ final. Our Senior hurlers were put in Group 2 alongside Kiltegan and Carnew.

In the football we have three men’s teams representing us. In the Philip Doyle Junior ‘B’ Football Championship, we are in Group 2 with Bray, Newtown and Newcastle.

The lads were very successful last year in winning the Junior ‘C’ championship, so they’ll be looking forward to the new challenge.

Our Junior ‘A’ team will play Hollywood in round 1. Our Senior football and county champions won’t be playing in round 1 as they have been seeded as one of the top four teams, meaning they get a bye into Round 2.

Our Senior ladies will begin their championship campaign against Blessington on August 8. Our Intermediate Ladies will face Éire Óg on August 16.

Our club gear shop is up and running as people can use the click and collect service through the Facebook page.

Please send any information for club notes to PRO.stpatricks.wicklow@gaa. ie before 9pm on Sunday evenings. You can contact St Pats on Facebook at St Patrick’s GAA Club Wicklow Town or on twitter @StPatsGAAWick.
