semi-final, while Owen Doyle and Philip Campion’s hurlers will not fear Meath, in a stern test in the Peadar O Liathain Cup, a Leinster ‘B’ hurling semi-final,’ said Wicklow’s Coiste na nÓg Chairman Pat Dunne, who partook in the said draw, as a Leinster CCC delegate.

‘Our Coiste na nÓg team had to act swiftly, as our club Minor football final was initially fixed for October 11, now with the county Minor footballers due to play in Leinster the following weekend, this now was not an ideal situation, in giving our county footballer’s a fair crack at the whip, along with our county Minor hurlers who were also in the same boat,’ said Pat.

Within 24 hours, games manager Hugh Kenny along with the Coiste committee, revised the dates for both Minor club championships, to aid both county Minor teams. Hugh also brought forward the under-15 hurling club championship by a week, so there should be no crossover of players here with our internal Minor club hurling finals.

Coiste na nÓg secretary, Katrina Byrne, summoned a meeting via Teams, which was held last Thursday evening with the clubs concerned, along with both county managers, Paddy Dalton and Owen Doyle, invited as guests.

The new revised final dates September 20 (Minor football) and September 27 (Minor hurling) were agreed and ratified by the clubs, now giving nearly an extra month of preparation to both our Minor county squads.

Pat Dunne thanked all the clubs involved, for their support to our county Minor teams and Pat wished both Paddy Dalton, Owen Doyle and Philip Campion and their teams all the best going forward, in their respective Leinster championships outings.
