Hollywood beat Dunlavin

-

HOLLYWOOD got the better of Dunlavin in the Boothman Trophy final in 1988 by 0-10 to 0-5 in a match played in Valleymount.

‘Hollywood boosted their growing confidence with a good win,’ read the report. ‘It was not a great final, mainly because a handicapped Dunlavin side could never mount a menaingful challenge, going down by 0-10 to 0-5.

‘Hollywood led by 0-5 to 0-1 at half-time. It was all one-way traffic for 20 minutes of the second half but a late Dunlavin rally yielded four points and it could have been a couple more but for going for goals from close-in frees.

‘Hollywood were stronger in defence with their attack depending far too much on the accuracy of Myles Burke for scores. Corner-forward Joe Kelly was, however, in great shooting form and landed four good points from play.

‘Ger Murphy, Liam Mooney, Liam Healy and Robert Allen were great in defence. Mick Murtagh won some fine possession at midfield for Dunlavin. Paddy Moore, Kevin Cunningham and Eamonn Mooney in defence and Thomas English were best for Dunlavin.
