THOUSANDS OF WORDS
Content creator for Creator House and self-styled “Biohacking and Crypto
Queen,” Israeli Hofit Golan, thrice named influencer of the year by
Forbes, last week posted photos of herself at the 2024 Academy
Awards on her Instagram lifestyle/ travel/fashion/health/wellness blog. Golan owned the red carpet at this year’s Oscars – where hardly a yellow pin was to be seen
– by turning up in a Yaniv Persy
(Israeli wedding and evening dress designs) white dress with a long trail covered in names handwritten in black, representing Israel in all its glory, tragedy, bravery, and search for peace. “I had the honor to wear this symbolic dress,” she wrote on Instagram and X.
“The dress has the names of all the victims from the October
7 massacre and the hostages still being held. The back of the dress has a tallit, representing the faith of the Jewish people and the keffiyeh, representing the faith of the Palestinians, together, side by side, as a symbol of hope for peace and coexistence,” she wrote. Titling her post: “Making an entrance at the Oscars,” she said that the “dress was so powerful, that everyone who saw it teared up – including me.
“A picture speaks a thousand words, but this dress speaks thousands,” she wrote.
Former hostage Mia Schem, released after 54 days in Hamas captivity in November, attended the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 32nd Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party with her family on March 10. She wore a yellow rhinestone pin on her white gown in solidarity with the 134 people from over a dozen countries still held hostage; and a black cast on her arm, as she is still recovering from the gunshot wound inflicted by Hamas.
