Time for some hamantash

- – N.B.

With Purim just around the corner, the aroma of hamantash is wafting through the bakeries. This year we tried the selections of two bakery chains – Biscotti and Biga.

The delectable delights of Biscotti’s Purim collection are crafted by culinary wizard Ruslana Yona. She has outdone herself this year by presenting an array of irresistible flavors such as Belgian chocolate, poppy-citrus (a true delight), marmalade and white chocolate, mocha-pecan, and a trendy twist with a filling inspired by cornflakes and milk.

However, stealing the spotlight in Biscotti’s Purim collection is the Galette De Roi – the French royal cake, a regal creation that boasts two layers of rich, flaky puff pastry embracing a symphony of almond cream and poppyseed cream. Not only is it a visual masterpiece, but its taste is a battle-worthy contender, with everyone around the table vying for a slice. Priced at NIS 96, this Galette De Roi is my pick for the Purim gathering. Certified Kosher Badatz Beit Yosef, Biscotti’s Purim collection is available across the country. For inquiries or orders, call (03) 5704015 or visit biscotti.co.il/ Biga has introduced a gluten-free Israeli-style hamantash for the holiday, featuring a delightful halva filling. Surprisingly, these treats were devoured by the entire family, proving to be a hit regardless of allergies. They boast a rich flavor profile, striking the perfect balance of sweetness, and the butter-rich pastry is simply excellent. Biga offers a diverse range of gluten-free hamantashen with traditional fillings such as poppyseed, chocolate, and dates. Priced at NIS 42 for a 250-gr. pack of gluten-free cookies and NIS 140 for a kg. of regular hamantash, these delectable treats are available at Biga locations throughout the country. Check out their website for the nearest one: biga-bakery.co.il/locations. Purim indulgence, here we come.
