Nissim Zvili, formerly Israel’s ambassador to France and president of Alstom Israel, has been appointed executive manager of General Electric in Israel.

In his new role, Nissim will be responsible for supporting the operational integration of GE and Alstom and for leading incremental growth of GE businesses across the country, while promoting a ‘One GE’ approach in the region.

Between 2002 and 2005 Nissim served as Israel’s ambassador to France and since 2009 held the role of president of Alstom Israel.

Nissim began his political career during the ‘80s as secretary-general of the Moshav movement. After covering different public roles, he entered the national legislature as a representative for Labor in 1992. He acted as secretary-general of the party from 1992 to 1998. Nissim also participated in regional development courses at Oxford and Cambridge.

GE established its presence in Israel in 1950, making it one of the first major US corporations to operate in the country. From then, and throughout the last six decades, GE’s innovative products and services from the healthcare, energy and aviation businesses have been actively and successfully marketed in Israel through a network of distributors and direct operations. In the last 20 years, significant investments and acquisitions have made GE an even stronger contributor to Israel’s rapidly developing industry. Following the November 2, 2015 GE-Alstom alliance, GE powers over 80 percent of Israel’s energy and renewable energy infrastructures.

Major projects include the construction of Israel’s first hydroelectric pumped storage power station in the North of Israel and a 120 MW solar power station in the South of Israel. GE is also operating the Dalia power station which accounts for approximately 7% of the energy and electricity sector. Currently, GE in Israel employs over 500 people, has eight facilities including four research and development centers.
