Mortar from Syria falls in Israel
A mortar shell fired from Syria fell near the border fence in the Israeli Golan Heights on Monday evening. The shell was an apparent stray, fired in the course of civil war battles in the area, the IDF said. Following the fire, an Israel Air Force aircraft struck the source of the fire, an army spokesman said. “The IDF views the Syrian regime as responsible for its territory, and it will not tolerate any attempt to harm the sovereignty and security of Israel and its residents,” the military said. • Yaacov Lappin
