Resurgent Liverpool fights back to thrash Stoke City

Liverpool celebrated its third Premier League victory in a row as an inspired performanc­e gave it a 4-1 home success over Stoke City after it fell behind early on in an entertaini­ng clash at Anfield on Tuesday.

Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino, a Giannelli Imbula own goal and a strike from substitute Daniel Sturridge lifted Liverpool back into second place, six points behind leaders Chelsea, after Jonathan Walters headed the visitors in front after 12 minutes.

The home side, which had dominated possession, equalized when the lively Lallana scored from a tight angle and Firmino turned the tide with a low shot that went in after hitting both posts.

A pair of defensive howlers by Stoke helped Liverpool seal the victory after the break as Imbula turned a Divock Origi cross into his own net before Sturridge pounced on a poor back pass by Ryan Shawcross and slotted the ball home.

Swansea City sacks manager Bradley

Swansea City has sacked manager Bob Bradley less than three months after the American took charge at the Liberty Stadium, the Premier League’s second-bottom club said on Tuesday.

Swansea was thrashed 4-1 at home by West Ham United on Monday and is mired in a relegation battle, level on 12 points with basement side Hull City after 18 games.

Bradley, 58, saw his Swansea side pick up just two wins and two draws in his 11 games in charge, during which it conceded 29 goals, after he replaced Francesco Guidolin on October 3.

Former Manchester United and Wales winger Ryan Giggs is the early favorite for the job among the bookmakers followed by Wales manager Chris Coleman, who used to play for Swansea.

Former United States national team coach Bradley became the first American to manage a Premier League club when he left French club Le Havre to take over at Swansea.
