1. Royal event
Prince Maximilian of Liechtenstein was in Israel to take part in an event marking the two countries’ cooperation in technological education. The prince met with Haifa’s MadaTech – Israel National Museum of Science, Technology, and Space chairman Leon Recanati. The LGT Group, the private banking and asset management group of the princely House of Liechtenstein, sponsored the event, which included royal mingling, speeches and a concert.
2. Sound of music
The Rimon School of Music, which has had a variety of famous musicians as students, had its first fund-raising event in Tel Aviv. Those who spoke included: Yehuda Eder, Rimon’s president; Moshe Sinai, Rimon’s CEO; Udi Angel, the Rimon board chairman; and Irina Shalmor, chairwoman of the Friends of the Rimon School. All proceeds went to scholarships and community and business projects, such as Rimon’s business-music incubator, which is the first of its kind in the country. Also there were Danny Toktali, Ahuva and Shlomo Yanai, Shira Farber and Lenny Recanati.
3. More commercial centers
The Hanan Mor Holdings Group, led by chairman Hanan Mor and CEO Avi Maor, launched its MORE commercial centers brand last week, at a huge event in the new city of Harish. Shufersal CEO Itzik Abercohen, Tzomet Sefarim owner Avi Shomer and Harel Wiesel, the CEO of Fox Group, weren’t deterred by the weather, and were happy to meet Shira Mor, Hanan’s wife, with whom they all had worked before.
4. Taboola decade
Adam Singolda, founder of the recommendations platform Taboola, marked 10 years since he established the company. About 600 employees from 14 offices around the world, spread out from China to Brazil, met in Barcelona for three busy days of sessions that dealt with the company’s vision for the next 10 years.
5. Social investment
Last week, Social Finance Israel – established by social investments pioneer Sir Ronald Cohen – dedicated its new offices in Tel Aviv. They also marked the 2016 year-end, which was a vital year for Israel’s social investments. Those who came and gave their blessings included: Yaron Neudorfer, SFI’s CEO; former senior vice president of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles Martin Karp; director of philanthropy at the Rothschild-Caesarea Foundation Eli Buch; and Michal Herzog, chairwoman of the Wohl Foundation.
