1. Buy Me

For the second time, Israeli gift-card website Buy Me Gift-Cards has brought to Israel a star from the popular HBO series Entourage, to perform in a commercial. Adrian Grenier, who played Vincent Chase in the series, might have been in Israel for only 52 hours, but he managed to film the commercial and also meet faceto-face with Buy Me CEO Jonathan Alon.

2. Rappaport

The Rappaport Prize Awards Ceremony, which took place last Wednesday at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, opened with cocktails and mingling. The Rappaport Prize for Excellence in the field of Biomedical Research was awarded to senior researcher Prof. Michal Schwartz and young researcher Dr. Gad Asher, both of whom hail from the Weizmann Institute of Science. Attending the event were Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai; Ruth Rappaport and her daughters, Irit Rappaport and Dr. Vered Drenger; Prof. Michael Sela, former president of the Weizmann Institute; and Prof. Aaron Ciechanove­r, a Nobel Laureate in Chemistry.

3. Disney

Disney Israel presented a Disney Princess Show titled “Dream Big, Princess” during the recent Gindi Fashion Week Show in Tel Aviv. The show was part of an internatio­nal campaign aimed at encouragin­g children to dream and achieve great things as a result of inspiratio­n from characters who appear in magical Disney movies and stories. Disney Israel General Manager Tami Landsman hosted Disney’s regional director Giovanni Mastrangel­o at the show.

4. Chiefs of Staff

On Friday afternoon, a premiere screening of the IBA’s new documentar­y series

The Israel Chiefs of Staff was held. The new show presents the stories of six of Israel’s chiefs of staff: Ehud Barak, Shaul Mofaz, Moshe (Boogie) Ya’alon, Dan Halutz, Gabi Ashkenzi, and Benny Gantz, as well as earlier IDF commanders. During the exclusive interviews for the documentar­y, the participan­ts discussed the events that had the greatest impact on their country and people, their feelings and decisions they took at critical moments.

5. Gorenje

The new Gorenje collection of Slovenian luxury electrical appliances was launched this week in Israel. Yossi Sarudi, CEO of HY Group, the Gorenje importer, hosted the launching of the new line of products, which was designed by Philippe Starck, Karim Rashid and Svarski. The event took place in a Gorenje concept store in Herzliya. Among the individual­s invited to the gourmet dinner were Nili Barak Priel, Slovenian Ambassador to Israel Barbara Susnik; Evelin Hagoel; and Yafit Greenberg.
