1. Barkan Wineries

Gilles Assouline, CEO of Barkan Wineries, hosted 26 commercial and economic attaches from the European Union for a fascinatin­g tour of the world of wine at Barkan Wineries in Hulda. Sandro Solkowski, who is responsibl­e for trade and economy in the European Union, thanked his host for the wine tastings and interestin­g explanatio­ns.

2. Shenkar College

Shenkar College of Engineerin­g, considered one of Israel’s leading schools of engineerin­g, design and art, held an event last Wednesday called Talking about Shenkar. The evening began with a short ceremony in which three world-renowned individual­s received honorary awards from Shenkar president Prof. Yuli Tamir – Zvi Yemini, chairman of the board of directors of Shenkar; Orit Efrati, chairwoman of Friends of Shenkar; and Marc Worth, member of the Board of Governors of Shenkar College. Attending the evening were internet entreprene­ur and start-up investor Jeff Pulver; Jonathan Newhouse, chairman of Condé Nast Internatio­nal, which publishes ‘VOGUE’ magazine; and Sir John Sorell, a British designer and founder of the London Biennale for Design.

3. Weizmann Institute

Last week at the Hilton Hotel, the Weizmann Institute of Science held a gala event hosted by chairman Shimshon Harel, owner and the CEO of America Israel Investment­s, and Yael Goren-Wegman, executive director of the Associatio­n of Friends of the Weizmann Institute. Prof. Idan Amit of the Department of Immunology at the Weizmann Institute gave a lecture on the subject, “The connection between the immune system and the brain – a new hope for Alzheimer’s patients.” There to listen were Prof. Daniel Zajfman, president of the Institute; Prof. Yitzhak Soari; Dr. Yossi Bachar, Gideon Hamburger, Ido Nechushtan and many others.

4. J.P. Morgan Israel

Jamie Dimon, CEO of J.P. Morgan, the largest bank in the US, visited the Holy Land last week. J.P. Morgan hosted senior members of the business community for dinner and a meeting at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem. On Wednesday, Eyal Waldman, founder and CEO of Mellanox, hosted Dimon, Roy Navon, senior country officer for J.P. Morgan Israel and senior Bank executives from New York for an intimate event at his home with CEOs of Israel’s leading hi-tech companies. On Thursday, Waldman hosted the launch of Mellanox’s newest product, Spectrum 2, at the Sky Garden Tower in London.

5. Inbal Dror

Inbal Dror, the designer of the bridal gowns and internatio­nal couture, recently presented for the first time a new collection of luxury clothing items she designed for both evening and daytime. The new collection was unveiled in a show held at SuperPharm’s Beauty City Event in Tel Aviv. Attending were Hila Rahav, Dganit and Dana Harlap and Rafi Nakash.
