ISRAEL GOLDEN IN LACROSSE

-

The Israel national team claimed the gold medal at the European box lacrosse Championships on Saturday, defeating the Czech Republic 8-7 in the final in Turku, Finland. Both teams entered the final undefeated and the first half ended tied at 5-5. There was still nothing to separate the teams with five minutes to play, but Kyle Bergman would complete his hat-trick and give Israel the win with just over four minutes remaining. Israel’s success comes on the back of the silver medal won by the men’s national team at last year’s European Championships. Over 2,000 Israeli children currently play Lacrosse and Israel was announced earlier this year as the host of the 2018 FIL Men’s World Lacrosse Championships. The event is set to take place in Netanya over 10 days next summer and include over 2,000 athletes from some 50 countries.
