Ga’ash hosts Israel Open golf events for 1st time

Earlier this month, the over-75 division and the junior category of the Israel Open were played at the Ga’ash Golf Course, with junior visitors from Ukraine and Hungary participat­ing. At the end of November, the open for men, ladies and seniors will also be played at Ga’ash.

Cyril Kaufman took first place in the super-seniors event, with Brian Mehl coming in second place. The net prize went to Lawrence Goodman.

Hollo Zsomber from Hungary captured the boys’ junior title, followed by Daniel Rosza also from Hungary. Nine-year-old Lev Grinberg from Ukraine won the net prize.

Israeli Dana Lerner ,coached by Ga’ash Golf’s head profession­al David Goldenberg, took first place in the girls’ junior tournament, followed by Hungary’s Laura Czermecki, with Sara Szanto also from Hungary winning the net prize.

Also, during the junior competitio­n, Or Alon scored his first hole-in-one, on the par-3 13 hole playing at 124 meters.

Meanwhile, nearly 50 golfers participat­ed in the September Monthly Medal at Ga’ash as the humid summer conditions began to cool. The best gross score of the day was a gross 74, shot by Greg Elliot. In the super seniors, Mervyn Rabinowitz won with a net 67, followed by Ilan Mendelsohn.

Alex Sagi and Amos Aharoni both finished on net 69 in the A Division, with Sagi taking the cup on the count-back. The best net score of the day was in the B Division, where Ziki Zuk shot a net 63, with Amos Burstein taking second place on the count-back over Norma Kaufman.
