Israel Open at Ga’ash Golf Club a huge hit

With visiting players from Slovakia, Hungry and Russia, the Ga’ash Golf Club hosted the 2017 Israeli Open last week.

Yair Thaler won the men’s open, with Dana Lerner capturing the women’s crown.

Thaler played his three rounds all under par on the par-70 course with scores of 67, 66 and 66, giving him a total of 199 and 11-under par. In second place was Dor Hacham, with the net prize going to Oliver Nemeth from Hungary.

Lerner shot 73, 70 and 69 for a total of 210, 2-over par to win the ladies’ open.

Second place went to Ekaterina Malakhova from Russia, with the net prize going to Elana Maria Tarabova from Slovakia.

In the plus-50 division, Anthony Harris took first place with Yoav Shenhav the runner up, with the net prize going to Elisha Hillel.

The plus-65 division was won by Nissim Znati, followed by Basil Kaufman, with Hugo Wainstein taking the net prize.

Linda Zaidman topped the leaderboar­d in the women’s plus50 event, followed by Esti Noy.

At the impressive award ceremony held at the Agala coffee shop at Ga’ash, prizes and presents sponsored by Itai Lanual and Callaway were given by Alon Granot the chairman of the Israeli Golf Federation, with special thanks given to Ga’ash Golf CEO Gili Peleg for hosting the tournament.

Playing in the plus-50 division on Thursday, Amos Burstein scored a hole-in-one on the par-3 fourth hole, playing at 119 meters, while two days later Marilyn Cooper also aced the same hole, playing at 105 meters.
