FAMILY OUTING - FINALLY!

- (Text: Judy Siegel; photo: Itzik Hochshvili).

Cancer patients, isolated for months at home or in their wards at Beersheba’s Soroka University Medical Center, were taken last week with their families on a Tu Bishvat trip by the Meirim Foundation. One of the patients said excitedly, “I have not been out of the house for 18 months. This trip was a breath of fresh air – at long last we felt like an ordinary and happy family again.” Cancer can lead to family disintegration; the foundation, established in 2006, supports the family unit, giving patients and their relatives some fun and good memories, helping them to reconnect and move on. They planted trees, picniced in Moshav Gilat and toured in the south.
