Quality culture comes to Eilat...
... with the International Chamber Music Festival
This February, Eilat will be hosting its 13th annual International Chamber Music Festival at the Dan Hotel. This will be the sixth year in a row that the hotel will be hosting the prestigious cultural event, and offers special packages for those attending.
Ronen Nissenbaum, the incoming CEO of the Dan hotel chain, said that they are happy to host the festival and to “continue promoting culture in Israel and encourage high-quality tourists to visit the country.”
Eilat Mayor Meir Yitzhak-Halevy welcomes the festival and its contribution to “making Eilat a city of high-quality tourism.” The international festival is expected to bring tourists from all over Europe, as Eilat’s international airport currently charters about 60 flights a week.
Starting Wednesday evening, February 7, and concluding Saturday evening, February 10, the festival will feature 16 concerts with leading musicians from Israel and Europe, ranging from NIS 120 to NIS 300 per concert. Musicians from France, including choir and orchestra Ensemble Pygmalion and the Hermès Quartet, and England’s tenor Mark Padmore and pianist Paul Lewis, and more from both countries, will be performing numbers at the festival.
The festival will come to a close with a special concert by the Klazz Brothers and Cuba Percussion from Germany performing “Mozart meets Cuba,” uniting two very different cultures through their music.
Israeli pianist Ofra Yitzchaki and actor Dori Engel will be highlighting Israeli art at its best with a special concert in honor of Israel’s 70th anniversary: Two Homelands and a Piano. The piece was composed by Israeli immigrants from Germany that arrived in Israel in the 1930s after Hitler’s rise to power, and showcases the effects of the integration process in Israel on their music.
Throughout the festival, an exhibition of Israeli original paintings from the studio Artnova will also be on display in the hotel. These paintings are all made from recycled materials usings synthetic acrylic fibers of various textures to create layers, sewn together by 14,000 needles. The artists from Artnova studio will also be giving a live demonstration of their unique artwork.
